Getting started and access

How do I get started with 99Tests?

After you register, we contact you personally and then activate your account. If you wish, we support you as you start using the portal.

Is there a membership, a minimum volume or a subscription?

No. There is no membership, no minimum volume and no subscription. Using the portal is free of charge for you. A service fee applies for the handling.

Do I have to change my laboratory?

No. You use 99Tests for what your laboratory does not cover and for patients who cannot come to your practice.

Patients, test requests and profiles

How does a test request work?

You add the patient, select tests or use your own profiles, set the options for blood draw and result delivery and complete the test request. We then inform your patient by e-mail.

Which tests can I request?

Over 3,000 lab tests from partner laboratories in Germany and Europe: single parameters and profiles, searchable by clinical question. You will see the full list once your account has been activated.

Is the test request binding for my patient?

No. The test request is non-binding. Your patient decides in the patient portal whether to order the handling from 99Tests.

Are profiles and templates medical recommendations?

No. Profiles and templates are order templates, not medical recommendations. The decision on diagnostics remains yours.

Material, blood draw and shipping

What does 99Tests take care of after the order?

We ship the required material, provide information on pre-analytics and, if needed, organize the blood draw and sample pickup.

Where does the blood draw take place?

In your practice, with a blood-draw professional from our network near your patient or, depending on availability, at your patient's home.

Who sets the blood-draw fee?

The blood-draw professional. Your patient learns it in advance and pays it directly to the blood-draw professional.

How does the sample get to the laboratory?

Your patient books the sample pickup in the patient portal and can also cancel it there. We organize the return shipment to the laboratories.

Results, costs and documents

Who receives the results?

According to your settings, we share the results with you only or with the patient as well – before or after the next appointment.

What does 99Tests cost?

No membership, no subscription. A service fee applies per order. How it is made up and which other costs may apply is shown on our pricing page.

Can I set the cost contribution differently for each patient?

Yes. With every test request, you decide whether and to what extent your practice contributes to the costs.

What happens if a sample cannot be analyzed?

Your patient chooses between a refund of the laboratory fees for the affected parameter and a repeat free of charge until the result is available. The costs of a new blood draw are excluded.

Which documents does my patient receive for private health insurance or Beihilfe?

Your patient receives GOÄ-compliant documents by mail for submission to private health insurance or Beihilfe. Your own billing remains unaffected.

Is health data sent by e-mail?

No. Health data stays in the portal. E-mails and notifications only say: there is an update.
